Awards season is my favourite time of year. Entirely for the fashion, but sometimes also to see where taste trends are heading. Same goes for the fashion weeks twice a year, and I personally much prefer perving on the street style versus the catwalks half the time.
I’m going to be completely honest - this week’s Substack was entirely influenced by Bianca Censori’s (yes, same - honestly, had no idea what her name was until this week) Grammy’s red carpet outfit (or lack thereof).
Mostly because the entire wtf outfit was screaming to be written about, which of course, was the point entirely, and I’d thought really long and hard about devoting more cyberspace inches to it, and by association, him, but finally decided
I had nothing really to add to the current narrative about whether her glassy eyed stare is a “blink twice” cry for help situation,
There really isn’t much one can write about, well, nothing really, and
It wasn’t worth more than this paragraph I have now chosen to devote to it.
It did, however, inspire me to do a search of, and share, some of my favourite looks from this week - and not all of them because I love them.
Now, most people who know me know that I absolutely adore everything Westwood, so trust when I say I’m the most surprised that I didn’t instantly love this. Or maybe it’s the person wearing it - I am not the biggest Swiftie (blasphemy!) - and if that really is the case, isn’t it interesting how something or someone can colour your view and bias, even of something you thought you fully and wholly loved?
I read something the other day about how your energy and persona changes depending on the accent you’re adopting, and applying this here, I personally feel that this outfit just isn’t.. outfitting it for me. Everything feels just a little bit.. blah. Love the shade of red and the sparkles, not a fan of the one shoulder, or the drape of the miniskirt. And don’t get me started on the thigh jewellery.

This, I love. I must admit, I was a little eh, pass when I first saw this, but on closer inspection, love. Very on brand - a little camp, a bit zany, definitely quirky, and a full-on red carpet show stopper - and love how she matched her make up to the dress too.
Another look that is entirely on brand, but personally thought it was a tad casual for the occasion. Definitely serving the IDGAF vibes, so maybe it was the yellow rubber dishwashing gloves she thought was the perfect complement to her sheer (another one!) outfit that dialled it way down.
Although I have to say, I much prefer her outfit for the “I only wear MAC” event during NYFW yesterday, with some news outlets claiming this is a “calculated clapback” in response to Bianca Censori’s controversial Grammys outfit.

I have no words. I have, however, done the research so you don’t have to. Should you also wish to own your very own, custom, made to order, Vampire Castle Headpiece that symbolises “eternity, sensuality and resilience”, it will only set you back at the very reasonable price of €4,500. You can Add to Cart here.
Love the monochrome, love the tailoring, love how she’s accessorised, love the effortless Billie Eilish cool. 10 out of 10.
Another nod to the suit, this time in cream and shades of blue. Impeccable tailoring from Anthony Vaccarello, natch. Power suit, but make it awards-winner ready.
And to cap it all off, here’s my final favourite look from the Grammy’s. A controversial choice perhaps, given that most people loved Sabrina Carpenter’s backless JW Anderson baby blue halterneck gown (although I prefer the 80 carats of Chopard diamonds she was dipped in) nod to ‘60s Hollywood glam - I wasn’t the biggest fan of the baby blue personally.
This though, this I love. The styling, the hair, her makeup - that dress! And especially this - Miley presenting the award for Record of the Year in custom ALAÏA. Thanks Miley, I’m channeling you this year, you’re my spirit animal for 2025.
